It's a She Thing, Inc.

Welcome Future Kids is honored to partner with It's a She Thing, Inc. from March 1st to September 2022.   We commit to raising awareness about the vital work they are doing and the women they are serving within our own communities and to donate 40% of the proceeds of all items donated to our site directly to their work each month.

It's a She Thing, Inc. has been devoted to strengthening the lives of women and girls in our NYC community by providing countless resources and taking an inclusive, thoughtful approach to advocacy since 2012.

Mother-daughter duo Veronica Loomis and Mikayla Barnett founded It's a She Thing, Inc. in 2012 as a motivational platform in their own living room (a "girls night in") when Veronica herself was a recovering victim of domestic abuse and Makayla a witness to it.  Veronica took it upon herself to start developing the support that she wished she and her daughter had when they needed it most.  Makayla is now CFO of their organization.

It's a She Thing, Inc. is committed to turning life's trials into triumphs for women and girls, reaching hundreds in New York and beyond through monthly She Talks, community engagement, and an annual Empowerment Camp for Girls which is dedicated to health and wellness, nutrition, positive self-image, and entrepreneurship for girls ages 8-15 living below poverty level. Through their SheMatters Resource Fund and COVID-19 Relief Fund they have helped countless families overcome financial hurdles. Their Willie Mae Loomis Scholarship, named after their family matriarch, celebrates the academic excellence of high school and college graduates within their community and awards a scholarship to a college bound female high school senior every year.

They are also providing emergency shelter, groceries and even locksmith services.

In 2021 Veronica Loomis and Makayla Barnett received the 92Y Extraordinary Women Impact Award (scroll to 45:50 to see them right after Misty Copeland!) and a scholarship was created in their names for Teen Producers empowering high school students with the tools they need to pursue careers in creative industries and develop as artists.

Most recently, they have kicked off a monthly grocery plan, where they've personally packed and delivered thousands of dollars worth of groceries to countless families throughout the five boroughs of New York since June 2021.

Currently, they are in the process of completing the construction of the Willie Mae Loomis Transitional Home in New York, which will house women and their children during their most critical times of need.

It's a She Thing, Inc. are women within our own NYC community that are spending their lives helping women and girls, who have experienced trauma get back on their feet and step into their own power and wisdom.  We are thrilled to include you, our buyers and consignors, in our collaboration with them to add support in our circular local economy and to raise awareness about the critical work that they are doing.  If you would like to do more, here are links to each of their campaigns to donate directly and here is a link to contact them for volunteer opportunities.

All consignors can choose to donate their 40% commission upon registration or by contacting us directly at info@welcomefuturekids.com or here to support this important work.
